PUPPY
PICK UP

DRIVE

You are welcome to come pickup your puppy in-person!  Here are some recommendations on how to make the trip home a little easier:

Often, many of our puppies have a long car ride home. With much excitement exerted upon meeting their forever family, it’s common to sleep on the way back. Below are some important reminders for the trip home!

ITEMS FOR TRAVELING

  • A crate or carrier can come in handy. Some people like to hold their new puppy in a blanket or towel and others like to put them in a crate as they travel. Most of the time, the puppy will just fall asleep either way.

  • A water & food bowl. We recommend not feeding your puppy during travel unless it’s a very long trip home.  For extended trips we will have a bag of puppy food for you.  Please consider bringing bottles of water.

Stopping in places unfamiliar to you can be a dangerous situation for your new puppy. Parasites are rampant in common areas where people stop with their dogs.   Avoid grassy areas where diseases can be picked up, from wild animals or unvaccinated animals. These are areas that should be avoided at all costs. Consider traveling with puppy pads where you can allow the pup to potty in a controlled environment with safety as the first priority.

FLY

If you’re planning on flying to pick up your puppy, and take it home with you, we are happy to meet you at the Pensacola Airport or you are welcome to come to the house.

Here are some important things to consider t when flying with your puppy:

DOMESTIC FLIGHTS

  • Domestic flights have restrictions on what age a puppy has to be to fly. Most domestic flights require a puppy to be at least 8-10 weeks of age to fly.

  • The puppy must fit under the seat in front of you in an approved carrier.  You are responsible for purchasing an approved Pet Carrier/Sky Kennel for your puppy.  We can help you determine the appropriate size and you can have the carrier shipped to our house so that it will be here when you arrive.  We will take the time to familiarize your puppy with the carrier.

  • A Health Certificate from a veterinarian must accompany the puppy,  This certificate is only valid for 10 days from the issue date and requires an additional trip to the vet and is an expense you are responsible for.
